R & R Workshop: Milk & Cookies Party!

Milk & Cookies Party!

I loved putting together my daughter's first birthday party!
I recently shared all the fun food and projects over at Crafter Club blog and wanted to share here as well.

Food & Drinks:
//The party was in the afternoon so we didn't have to worry having a whole meal. I borrowed drink dispensers from a friend and they worked perfectly. To add some color, we decorated them with bows around the top using ribbon on one and polka dot fabric on the other. I thought they looked cute!

//Both my husband's family and mine live in Washington and were not able to make it to her party. So we gathered a few cookie recipes from our moms. I didn't realize until at the party how special that simple detail was. I know she doesn't remember, but I am glad we were able to have our family included even in a small way to plan her party. Chocolate Chip, Mint Chocolate, Snickerdoodles were just a few cookies we had. The cookies were sooo yummy! Again, I just added some ribbon or fabric around the cookie jars..such a simple and easy way to decorate them.
//Originally I wanted to make little "A" cookies, but because of time and such, I didn't get to go with that idea. And you know... I'm totally ok with that. One thing I've learned from planning parties is to decide what things you absolutely want and if the other things work out that is great, but if not don't sweat it.

The Cake:

//Ruffles and bows..can it get any better then that?! A wonderful friend made this cake. I had a few ideas and together we came up with this idea. But she totally exceeded my expectations! One tier was lemon, the other was vanilla with raspberry filling. It was delicious! Too bad my daughter wouldn't eat it though. haha.

The Decorations:

//I wanted a way to showcase how much my daughter had changed through the months. I made a Birthday Picture Display and It turned out exactly how I pictured it! We loved looking at all the pictures to see how much she has changed! It now hangs in her room and holds little keepsakes from when she was born and blessed at church.

//Buntings sure add a lot of whimsy and girly charm! The Bow Garland was seriously the easiest thing ever! You can see the tutorial here. The Polka Dot & Burlap Bunting was very simple. To see the tutorial, go here. The ribbon burlap bunting was another fun bunting to make as well. I stamped my daughter's name across it to make it a little more personable.

A great thing about buntings is you can use them over and over again at other parties or leave them up for decorations around your home. We have them hung above our daughter's bed now and its fun to think back to her party.
