R & R Workshop: DIY Halloween Mason Jar Lanterns

DIY Halloween Mason Jar Lanterns

How cute are these!? I made two of these last year for a church party and recently found them in my Halloween bin. I added the pumpkin mason jar with the help of my son.. he loved ripping the paper and putting it onto the jar.  I loved that this was a easy kids craft! There are so many different ideas you can do to decorate them..so have fun!

You will need:
//Mason Jars- Any size! I love the half pint jars
/Modge Podge & foam brushes
//scissors
//Black Permanent Marker
//Small flameless candles These are so awesome to put in your pumpkins too!

Steps:
1.Tear black tissue paper into big pieces. It doesn't really matter the size or what they look like. My kids had a blast ripping the tissue paper apart!

2. Put modge podge onto jar and place pieces of tissue paper onto it (like below). Do this process until the whole jar is covered. This does get a little messy, but my little guy loved doing it!

3.While your jar is drying, cut a pumpkin out of your orange tissue paper. Then draw a Jack-O-Lantern face.

4. Glue pumpkin onto the jar using modge podge and you are all done!Put a glow stick inside and watch it glow!

What do you think? Super easy, right! Here is how I made the other jars:

To make this Frankenstein Jar you will need:
//Orange, Green & Black Tissue Paper
//Scissors
//modge podge & paint brush

Steps:
1.Rip or cut stripes from your orange tissue paper and put them onto the jar with modge podge

2.Draw and cut a head shape with the green tissue paper. I added ears on the side but you don't have too :)  Use modge podge and put onto the jar.

3.I cut spiky hair out, stitches, nose and mouth that looked sewn shut. Possibilities are endless to what you want him to look like! So be creative!

4. Add googly eyes!

To make this Trick or Treat Jar, you will need:
//Mason Jar
//modge podge & paint brush
//Orange Tissue Paper
//Black Permanent Marker
//Gold Ribbon
Steps:
1. Rip your tissue paper into strips and put onto jar with modge podge.

2. Write any message you would like! Happy Halloween, Boo! or any other message.

3. Tie a ribbon and make a bow around the opening of the jar. All done!

These jars are so fun to have on the front porch or on your mantel! Or use them to hold candy. I recently used them to hold straws and popsicles sticks at our Caramel Apple Party. They are just so cute!
