Brownies are my hubbies favorite dessert. I am more of a cake girl so that is why I love this recipe! Best of both worlds. :) I love making these brownies because I always have the ingredients on hand and nothing is better then homemade.
Recipe from Better Homes & Garden New Cook Book
3/4 cup butter
1 1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup milk
1. Preheat oven to 350*F. Grease a 15x10x1- inch baking pan; set aside. In a large microwave safe bowl, microwave butter for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes or until melted. Stir in sugar and cocoa powder until combined. Add eggs and vanilla. Using a wooden spoon, beat mixture lightly just until combined.
2. In a small bow, combine flour, baking powder and baking soda. Add flour mixture and milk to chocolate mixture, stirring after each addition.
3. Pour batter into pan. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until toothpick or butter knife inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool. (the original recipe says 2 hours but they turned out fine for us after 10 minutes.)
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a glass of milk.
I like to cut them into small squares or hearts for Valentine's Day. So fun for kids to eat especially on a stick -or straw in this case :) I found the straws as the $1 aisle at Target. I cut them in thirds so they are small.
A yummy treat for your family or to serve at a party.
