A friend and I put together a fun baby shower for my sweet sister in law and I wanted to share some of the details! We asked her what colors she loves and she said yellow and gray. We didn't do any animal themes but you definitely could with the color shceme we went with! We didn't tell her any details just so we could keep it a surprise. I loved seeing her reaction and having her relax and enjoy the day instead of worrying about all the food and details.
Rest Your Head,
Close to my Heart,
Never to part.
Baby of Mine.
A matching "It's a boy" print completed the set of prints. I will be sharing them soon :)
We played a couple simple games including this Baby Animal Matching Game and Advice cards for the mom-to-be. You can get the Baby Animal Game and Advice cards here. I also made them in a pink and gray set just in case you want them a little more girly!
Decor was super simple but whimsical. I had a yellow vase and flowers already so with some smart thinking by my friend, we found sticks in her yard and spray painted them navy! Just because this was a baby boy shower, didn't mean we couldn't add some flowers somewhere for the mom-to-be. I really loved the whole look and think it is important to have a statement piece on your food table.
The tassel Garlands were so easy to make and added the perfect touch. I was so happy to find striped tissue paper!
Lets talk Food: My friend Lindsay, who did this shower with me, made this darling cake! It was so yummy! Check out all her great cakes here.
Sugar cookie fruit tarts were a huge hit! This was my first time making tarts and they were way easier then I thought and so delicious. A guest even thought they were from Kneaders! Success! I shared the recipe at Giggles Galore here. :) We also had oreo cookies (her favorite treat) cheese and crackers, bruschetta and of course the cake.
We used mason jars and a glass apothecary jar to hold the lemonade. Mason jars with striped navy and gray straws were the perfect touch and the striped bow was the cutest little detail. I am all about the little details!
One of my biggest tips for planning a party is to decide what is more important to you for a party your going to throw. If you are more into decor, go big on that and less on the food. Don't try to do it all if you don't have to! Most of the parties you see on party blogs are done with a whole team, so don't stress about everything. Plan ahead and work on things little by little so when they day comes.. you have most things done and time for all the little touches. I know from experience about waiting until the night before to do everything.. it was stressful!
We had so much fun planning this party and I can't wait to meet our nephew soon!
